The Yogi government in Uttar Pradesh is taking steps to
strengthen the State Special Investigation Team SSIT by creating additional
posts and making the team more effective. The blueprint for the required
manpower has been prepared and submitted to the government following Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath demand during a review meeting. The aim is to make
the SSIT self-sufficient and expedite departmental investigations. Currently,
there are 82 sanctioned posts in the department, out of which 41 are vacant.
The proposal seeks the creation of 192 new posts, including positions for
Superintendent of Police, Additional Superintendent of Police, Deputy
Superintendent of Police, Prosecution Officers, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, and
various other roles. The government approval is awaited to begin the process
of filling these vacant positions. This move is part of the government commitment to reducing crime and providing adequate resources to the Uttar
Pradesh Police under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath leadership.
