Yogi Administration Spurs 660 MW Jawaharpur Super Thermal Power Unit Production with Directive

UPCM Yogi Adityanath, has issued directives to the Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation (UPPCL) to ensure adequate power supply during the summer months in response to the surge in electricity demand. In accordance with these instructions, UPPCL has ramped up its power generation efforts, including the initiation of the production of one unit (660 MW) of the Jawaharpur Super Thermal Power Project by May 15th. During his inspection of the project site, M Devraj, Chairman of the UPPCL, stressed the importance of timely project completion, as electricity demand is expected to increase up to 23,000 MW in the coming months. The Jawaharpur Super Thermal Power Project, with a generating capacity of 1320 MW, is estimated to cost around Rs 10,500 crore and will be synchronized for testing by April 23rd, with production to begin on May 15th. In addition, the Chairman has released Rs 70 crore to expedite the project's completion, and it is expected that the second unit of 660 MW will be operational within the next six months.
