UP Government to Unveil Innovative Township Policy for Resolving Housing and Urbanisation Challenges

The Uttar Pradesh government is set to unveil its innovative township policy, with several key provisions having been revised to address urbanisation and housing concerns. The minimum size of the township has been reduced to 12.5 acres in towns with populations under 2 lakh and 25 acres in larger towns, while the timeline for disposing of the Detailed Project Report has been cut from three years to 18 months. The non-refundable processing fee has been reduced from 31 lakh to 71,000 per acre, and incentives in the form of stamp duty exemptions and land usage conversion will be provided to developers. Additionally, 20% of units will be reserved for EWS and LIG families, and wetlands, waterbodies, thickets, and floodplains will be included in the scope of township. The innovative policy is aimed at encouraging a self-contained and walk-to-work concept while ensuring faster approval timelines and better support for developers.
