Uttar Pradesh Goes Green Launches Solar Energy Policy-2022 with Target of 22,000 MW Power Generation in 5 Years

The Solar Energy Policy-2022 in Uttar Pradesh has set an ambitious target of generating 22,000 MW of power within the next five years. This includes the establishment of solar projects with a capacity of 2035 MW, along with rooftop solar power plants with a capacity of 256 MW, all funded by private capital investment. To promote energy efficiency, 21,197 solar street light plants will be installed for public street lighting. In addition, the policy aims to encourage the use of eco-friendly alternatives, such as Compressed Bio Gas plants, Bio Coal, Bio Diesel, and Bio Ethanol. As part of the Saubhagya Yojana, 53,354 solar power pack plants will also be installed. The policy also emphasizes customer service, with the redressal of over 1,04,510 consumer complaints through the 'Sambhav' portal. To streamline new connections for domestic consumers, the 'Jhatpat Portal' has been established. Lastly, the establishment of a compressed biogas plant in Gorakhpur is also underway, further contributing to the state's green energy goals.
